May 1st-3rd!! In case you are not familiar with this fundraiser of ours, let me share a bit with you. Twice a year the city of Toronto holds a city wide yard sale. We give a very lovely lady our addresses and hours of operation and she consolidates it onto a map. These maps are available at local gas stations and stores the first morning of the sale for bargain hunters to grab and get going! It is such a great opportunity for a community to come together. I have met such interesting and great people through the years of holding these and can't wait for this year - it's going to be better than ever!!
We are pulling out the stops this year. Not only will we have some great items, ranging from cloths to books to furniture (and beyond!), John is also going to be highlighting his culinary prowess at the grill making hotdogs. Need something sweet while you shop? Not a problem! We are going to have cookies, breads, and other baked goods as well. Now I'm not saying my M&M cookies are the best in the world, but last year we almost sold out the first day. One customer actually came back the second day to specifically buy up all the remaining ones! Can you miss out on these? I think not!! Wash that down with a crisp, chilled water or soda and we'll keep you here for hours!
So how can you help? So glad you asked! Do you have junk? Stuff that you just need to get rid of, crowding your house, making the rooms smaller and walls close in? Just drop us a line and we'll take that unwanted clutter off your hands! Just an old kitchen appliance? We'll take it! Bags of old cloths? Garage full of what-nots and do-dads? When do you want me to come by??!
Even if you don't plan on buying anything or have anything to donate, John and I invite you to stop by and hang out with us a while! Every penny we make goes straight into our savings for the adoption of two children from Colombia. We don't know when we will be matched so in the meantime we are working hard and saving up. This is one of many fundraisers that we have done through the past two years and is by far the most successful. We may be adding some more raffles and 'frills' so stay tuned!
In other news, we've decided to launch a Facebook page to make it a little more convenient for all you lovely folks to follow along with us - we are trying to remember to invite everyone, if someone is missed please know it's not because you don't want you! Like us one Facebook and make us a part of your news feed! And feel free to share among your family and friends!
